Marla began her studies at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in India almost 30 years ago. Her interest in yoga therapy led her to form Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics, a non-profit organization working to further knowledge of and accessibility to yoga’s healing applications as well as participate in yoga therapy research.
Marla was highlighted by Yoga Journal Magazine as one of twenty-one yoga teachers helping to shape the future of yoga and has been a writer contributor for international yoga magazines and journals.
Marla served the yoga community in various roles including President of the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States, contributor to the creation of ethical guidelines for certified teachers and member of committees to determine international teaching standards for Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Marla is a Senior level Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with over 25 years of experience teaching yoga and studying with BKS Iyengar and the Iyengar family.
Yoga Journal named her one of 21 teachers helping to “shape the future of yoga.”
