About Marla

A Senior level Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with over 25 years of teaching experience, Marla first studied with BKS Iyengar, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar in India almost 30 years ago and has since returned regularly to continue her studies.

She is a founding board member of the non-profit organization, Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics, working to further knowledge of and accessibility to yoga’s therapeutic aspects. She designed and assisted research studies through UCLA on yoga as a treatment for depression, anxiety and IBS.

Marla was highlighted by Yoga Journal Magazine as one of twenty-one young yoga teachers helping to “shape the future of yoga”. She has written columns and articles for several international yoga magazines and journals including Yoga Journal and Yoga International.

Marla has served the community in her various roles within the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States including President, convention chair, certification committee member, ethical guidelines committee chair, member of the continuing education for teachers committee and as an Iyengar Yoga representative to Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She was honored by the Iyengar Yoga Association of Southern California as the recipient of their leadership award.
